More trouble for police as Ikokwu spare parts dealers threaten to shut down market if...

The chairman Ikokwu spare parts market,Mr. Anthony Iwu has given the Nigeria police this week to make available the autopsy result conducted on late Chima Ikwunado who allegedly died as a result of police tortured by the Eagle Crack unit of the mile one police station. Mr. Anthony Iwu who spoke with our correspondent said if nothing is done the Ikokwu traders will embarked on seat at home. However the union chairman who also demanded that the Rivers state commissioner of police Mustapha Dandaura s be relieved of his duty, stressed that the Nigeria Police has failed to parade the Eagle Crack officers who were involved in the death of late Chima Ikwunado, also added that the traders will be forced to take action on the matter. Meanwhile, the Rivers state Police Homicide's Department of the state Criminal Investigation Department SCID who gave attention to the family and relevant stakeholders yesterday said they have only received the first phrase of the autopsy result

Police brutality: family of late Chima yet to receive autopsy result

Family of late Chima Ikwunado were unable to receive a copy of the result of the autopsy conducted on late Chima Ikwunado on the 10th of February. Our correspondent reports that the family had proceeded to the state criminal investigation department to apply for a copy of the autopsy report but could not access it as the police homicide department said they are yet to receive the result. A policeman who attended to the family said the result is expected by today and will only be made available for sighting. The family of late Chima Ikwunado have requested for an autopsy to be conducted on late Chima due to claims by the police that he died of high sugar level. The family had engaged the services of a pathologist to join the police pathologist to conduct the autopsy. Meanwhile, Late Chima's Elder brother Anthony Ikwunado says the family have been undergoing pressure from the police and other stakeholders to drop the case. CSO in Rivers state demand for the arrest of SP Benson Adetuyi over popular Ikokwu five brutality

The Civil Society Organisations in River State have continue to demand for the investigation and arrest of the formal Eagle Crack commander of the Rivers State Police Command ,Benson Adetuyi whose men were said to allegedly tortured Chima Ikwunado an auto mechanic to death and inflicted four others with grievous injuries . Chairman Civil Society Organisations in Rivers state Mr. Enefaa Georgewill while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt said the Eagle Crack team of the Mile One Police Station is a treat to the people of Rivers State. Mr. Georgewill however called on the Inspector General of Police to redeployed Rivers state commissioner of police for negligent on the matter and also request that the belongings of the Ikokwu five collected by the Eagle crack be returned immediately. Four officers in police net over Chima Ikwunado's death

Four Police Officers who allegedly tortured Chima Ikwunado to death have been detained at the Rivers State Police Criminal Investigative Department CID. Lawyer to late Chima Ikwunado Mrs Chinyere Lawrence made this known after a meeting between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and association of Ikoku traders over the weekend. Mrs. Lawrence said one of the officers was brought from a clinic for interrogation at the state CID when they visited with Chima’s family. She denied a statement by the police that the family has not approached them to demand the release of the victim’s corpse stressing that a letter to that effect was forwarded to the commissioner of police. Also speaking the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Rivers state, Bartholomew Okere called on the police authority to release the corpse of late Chima for identification and for a fresh autopsy to be conducted on it. CAN calls for end of killings in Nigeria

The Rivers state Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN; joined other Christian faithfuls across the country in a rally and prayer walk to raise its voice to end the killings in Nigeria especially on the Christian's in the Northern part of the country by the Boko Haram member.
