Obolo Youths Give Oil Companies Operating In Obolo Land Six Days To Shut Down

The Obolo Youths Coalition has Condemned allegations made by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom that Youths from Eastern Obolo destroyed Coconut plantation .

In a statement by President General, Obolo Youth Coalition Worldwide, Comrade Ijonama Mkpon Amon gave six days ultimatum from today Monday 22nd ,May 2023 to all Companies operating in the Areas to shut down operation as their security is not guaranteed.

Comrade Amon accused the Governor of plans to eliminate Obolo people in the affected Local Government Areas .

The Statement below 👇

OBOLO YOUTH GIVES OIL COMPANIES OPERATING IN OBOLO LAND IN AKWA IBOM STATE 6 DAYS TRADITIONAL STANDING ORDER TO SHUTDOWN THEIR OPERATIONS STARTING FROM TODAY MONDAY THE 22ND MAY,2023.

We the Youths of Obolo ethnic nationality out rightly condemn and reject the accusations made by Gov. Emmanuel Udom, that youths from Eastern Obolo destroyed Coconut plantation.

We have watch with dismay the Adolf Hitler's style of governance that His Excellency, Governor Gabriel Emmanuel Udom, of Akwa Ibom State has adopted.

His Excellency, while commissioning 16.71 km Abak Ifia-Ikpe Mbak Eyop, Ikot Abia Osom - Nko Road with 2.1km Outfall drains in Ikot-Ekpene and Obot Akara lga wherein he boasted at himself as the Saviour and requested thus a special thanksgiving song tittle; “O yes, in the presence of the lord, I will bring my gift with thanksgiving and love ….”,
Consequently, it gladdens my heart to reply him with this encouraging song on behalf of the Obolo youth” Draw me nearer whenever I go astray. “remove not an ancient land mark" Proverb 22:28

Governor Emmanuel Udom from the beginning of his administration has not hidden his deep animosity against Obolo Speaking LGAs in Akwa Ibom State based on some sensitive grudges he holds against us.

As peace-loving people and despite being the host communities to several oil companies operating in Akwa Ibom State whose resources is using to develop other parts of the State while our communities cannot boast of any developmental project, especially under Governor Gabriel Emmanuel Udom, we have maintained our peace and calm till this rascality at the end of his administration. We have provided an enabling environment to all oil companies to operate in our land which generates huge financial resources to the State and the federal government of Nigeria yet there is no sign of the presence of government in our LGAs.

It is on heard that a lovely father who is about to bequeath good legacy to his succeeding children will now be cut in selfishness leading to attempt to annex our land to Onna brethren: which is an aberration and shall be resisted till the end of his administration.

It is on record that a Court of Competent Jurisdiction has delivered a judgement by his lordship, Hon. Justice Edem E. Akpan in that light against the State Government on the 27th January,2022 in suit No: HU/341/2021, between JOSEPH DANIEL EKOYORK & ords V. AKWA IBOM STATE & ords prohibiting the defendant from any attempt to purportedly redrawing and/or remapping of the affected LGAs.

"He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him” Ecclesiastes 10:8

Surprisingly, the governor disobeys the said court judgement and went ahead in another attempt to cede our ancestral Obolo land to Onna LGA and making his place Onna LGA, a littoral LGA to benefit from the recently signed PIA which ascribed certain benefits to the host communities of the oil companies.

Akwa Ibom State Government under the ruler-ship of a supposedly Deacon in Christian faith, Emmanuel Udom has shown so much hatred to Obolo people for instance; the recently conducted employment for State Secondary School Teachers which the Governor claimed he personally supervised, while his Onna LGA has over 100 beneficiaries, all the seven Obolo Speaking LGAs in Akwa Ibom cannot boast of 100 chances.

From the foregoing we are alarmed by the insistence of Governor Gabriel Emmanuel Udom that youths from Eastern Obolo LGA completely destroyed his failed acclaimed multi-million dollar coconut plantation which was planted over 5 years ago yet has not shown any signs of growth let alone bearing fruits even when the Police Public Relations Officer in the State Odiko Macedon after visited the plantation said only a portion of the plantation were destroyed and that the police is working to arrest the culprits and the Cable News reporters who visited the farm also corroborated the police report.

Lastly, the Governor in a recent separate meeting with stakeholders from both Eastern Obolo and Ibeno LGAs respectively has threatened to sign the highly controversial, inciting, and provoking remapping bill into law, which is an open invitation to violence, anarchy haven been duly served a fresh lawsuit against him/or mapping of Akwa Ibom State.

He bluntly bragged in the presence of Obolo representatives that he would have arrested the obolo youth coalition president General if he were present in the meeting and that on or before he leaves office precisely on the 29th May,2023, he must certainly sign the bill whether it will instigate violence, intra tribal conflict and or cause disharmony between Obolo people and our neighbors he does not care.

That we the Obolo people cut across the Obolo Speaking LGAs both in Akwa Ibom and Rivers State has made several pleas to both the State and Federal Governments, written several letters to security agencies in the country to intervene or to plead with His Excellency, Governor Emmanuel Udom, to allow the rule of law prevail in Akwa Ibom State by withholding his assent to the commonly condemned and contentious bill until the case is dispensed off but that since the Governor has decided to use our ancestral land as a parting gifts to his people despite several pleas and lawful protests, that we have resolved to protect the judgement of court dated 27th January 2022, and to equally protect our ancestral land with our last drop of blood.

We hereby give all the oil companies ranging from (Universal Energy Resources Ltd Unyenge stubb creek , Monipolo in Effiat,NNPC Ltd ALL IN Mbo lga, Exxon Mobil in Ibeno, Sterling Global, and orders) operating in Obolo Speaking LGAs in Akwa Ibom State, A 6 (SIX) DAYS TRADITIONAL STANDING ORDER from today Monday 22nd May.,2023 to shut down their respective operations until we reverse our decision as their security in our locality cannot be guaranteed again since Emmanuel Udom and his cohorts have hatched plans to eliminate Obolo people in these affected LGAs who he conceived as obstacle to his obnoxious evil mapping, so that he can fulfil his plans.

Failure to comply to our ORDER to shut down your operations in our territory from today after this press release, we can no longer guarantee your safety in our land as any stranger find in our domain will be assumed to be EMMANUEL UDOM ILLEGAL SURVEY TEAM.

We do not intend to test the might of government but the Akwa Ibom State Governor PARTICULARLY who is self-acclaimed Deacon in Christian faith should be aware of the following Biblical injunctions:  “It is inevitable that *stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come.,  "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble. Woe be unto that man who instigates violence among brethren" Luke 17:1-2

God bless Obolo Land.
God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria
Obolo Itiki !!!

Signed: Ijonama Mkpon Amon.
President General, Obolo Youth Coalition Worldwide.
