Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa has emphasized that strategic engagement remains central to strengthening the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ahead of future elections, describing the just-concluded South East Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting as a defining moment for the party’s evolution.
Speaking after the landmark gathering held at the International Convention Centre, Awka, the APGA National Chairman noted that the meeting—regarded as the first of its kind—brought together the full spectrum of the party’s leadership structure across the South East. According to him, the engagement provided a rare and valuable opportunity to synchronize efforts, refine political strategies, and present a unified vision for the party’s future.
Ezeokenwa remarked that the meeting sent a strong signal of APGA’s preparedness and readiness for upcoming electoral contests, reinforcing its position as a formidable force within Nigeria’s dynamic democratic space. He stressed that such coordinated engagements are essential not only for internal cohesion but also for projecting confidence to the electorate.
A key highlight of his remarks was the reaffirmation of APGA’s commitment to credible and participatory internal democracy. He announced the adoption of the Option A4 voting system for party primaries, describing it as a transparent and grassroots-driven approach. By enabling party members to physically queue behind their preferred aspirants at the ward level, he explained, the system enhances accountability, reduces manipulation, and deepens ownership of the electoral process among members.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the APGA Chairman expressed confidence that this approach would foster discipline, inclusiveness, and trust within the party ranks, laying a solid foundation for credible candidate selection.
Ezeokenwa also paid tribute to the party’s National Leader and Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, praising his visionary leadership and reform-oriented governance style. He noted that Soludo’s administration continues to inspire confidence both within APGA and among the broader public, serving as a model for progressive governance.
He further commended members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), State Working Committees, Local Government and Ward Executives, as well as party faithful across the South East, for their dedication and impressive turnout at the meeting.
The APGA National Chairman concluded that the success of the stakeholders’ engagement underscores the party’s growing cohesion and determination, positioning it strongly as it charts a forward-looking path in Nigeria’s political landscape.
