World Teachers Day: Teachers Calls For Better Welfare Package

All over the world, the vision of providing the best Education delivery for every citizens can only be achieved when adequate care and attention are given to the teachers.

It's in this regard that UNESCO proclaimed October 5th annually as world teachers Day.

The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession globally and to draw attention to the voices of teachers.

Despite having the great responsibility of molding the future of Nigerian citizens ,the welfare package of teachers is among the worst in the country even though the government had made some promises to put smiles on their faces.

A teacher, Mrs Chinyere Otamiri lamented that teachers in the country are still not well taken care of in terms of welfare packages while urging the government to use the occasion to fulfill its promises.

A Lecturer at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Doctor Chikanele Asuru said the profession has attained a high level of professionalism in recent times when compared to how it was in the past.

On her part, the National Coordinator, concerned parents and Educators initiative, Mrs Olukemi Koleowo congratulated the teachers on their day and urged them remain committed to duty no matter the circumstance.

The theme for this year's world Teachers Day is Teachers at the heart of Education recovery.
