The People's Perception - The True Barometer Of Progress As Viewed By APGA National Chairman

Written By Nduka Anyanwu  In the realm of development and governance, official indicators such as GDP growth rates, literacy percentages, and infrastructure statistics often dominate discussions. While these quantitative measures are undeniably important, they do not tell the whole story.  The most telling measure of a nation's progress is, in fact, how its citizens perceive their own well-being and the effectiveness of their government. This perception acts as the ultimate gauge of governance success — reflecting whether development efforts translate into tangible improvements in people's lives. The Power of Perception Perception shapes reality. Citizens' evaluations of progress hinge not only on data but also on observable results and their personal experiences. When people see better roads, accessible healthcare, quality education, and increased employment opportunities, their confidence in governance swells.  Conversely, if there is a disconnect between official stati...

Written By Nduka Anyanwu  Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads where economic reforms and political discourse must converge to foster sustainable development.  According to Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), these reforms are not just economic strategies but vital steps toward building a resilient and prosperous nation. Recent initiatives such as subsidy removals and efforts to stabilize the foreign exchange market have sparked intense debates across the political landscape.  While these policies are inducing short-term hardships—such as inflation, inflationary pressures, and increased living costs—they are designed with a long-term vision: to achieve economic stability, reduce dependence on volatile imports, and attract foreign investment.  Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa emphasizes that these tough but necessary measures are central to the current administration’s agenda for economic reform. However, the challen...

His insights shed light on the critical issues that could shape the nation's political landscape in the coming years. One of the foremost concerns is the risk of institutional capture of the electoral process by entrenched political elites. Historically, powerful interests have sought to manipulate electoral institutions to preserve their dominance, thereby undermining the very foundation of democratic legitimacy.  Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa emphasizes the need for robust safeguards and reforms that can insulate electoral bodies from undue influence, ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. Another significant hurdle is the phenomenon of “pull-down syndrome” within the political class—a tendency for political actors to undermine ...

OPINION - Leadership Changes At INEC; The High Stakes For Fair Elections And Nigeria's Democratic Future As Viewed By APGA National Chairman

Written by Nduka Anyanwu  Leadership transition at Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) signifies a pivotal moment in our nation’s democratic journey. With the departure of its Chairman – Yakubu Mohammed, and some commissioners, Nigeria faces a critical crossroads that will determine the integrity, transparency, and credibility of our electoral process — not just for 2027, but for the future of our democracy. OPINION - Strengthening The Ruling Party And Opposition Alliances : A Path Towards A Sound Democratic Nigeria As Opined By APGA National Chairman

Written by Nduka Anyanwu   In the vibrant landscape of Nigerian democracy, the ongoing efforts to strengthen both the ruling party and emerging opposition alliances are pivotal to fostering a truly democratic society.  As the ruling party continues to consolidate its influence across various levels of governance, it is imperative that we recognize the increasing dynamism characterizing Nigeria’s political atmosphere. This dynamism, driven by emerging opposition coalitions, presents both challenges and opportunities that could define the future trajectory of our nation’s democracy. The ruling party’s strategic efforts to maintain and expand its influence are a testament to the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.  However, it is equally crucial to acknowledge that the political terrain is becoming more complex.  New opposition coalitions are forming with the clear intent of challenging the dominance of a single party, aiming to inject fresh per...
