Court Remand Farah Dagogo To Police Custody, Adjourn Matter

  Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded member representing Degema/Bonny Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon.Farah Dagogo to police custody.    Presiding Chief Magistrate Amadi Nna after sighting the two count charge of conspiracy to felony and cultism against the defendant could not allow the charges, sighting a new rule which do not empower Magistrate Court to hear a case of cultism. The Chief Magistrate also considered an information available to the court about the charge and ordered that he should be sent back to police custody before adjourning till 9th of May, 2022 for possible arraignment and consideration of bail. Hon. Farah Dagogo was arrested yesterday when he arrived  venue for screening as a governorship aspirant of  the Peoples Democratic party .

Governor Wike Shower Praises On King Dandeson Douglass Jaja During His Birthday Celebration

15 PDP Members Remanded At Correctional Center For Alleged Disruption Of Screening Exercise In PortHarcourt

  Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded fifteen PDP members to Port Harcourt correctional centre for alleged disruption of screening exercise at the party secretariat. The fifteen suspects who are standing trial on three-count charges of alleged felony, conspiracy and unlawful gathering to bridge peace, pleaded not guilty to all charges after it was read to them. Our Correspondent reports that counsels to the defendants, Chigozie  Baduwa, SB Batubo  and OL Dogini moved  for bail application and prayed the court to grant the defendants bail relaying on section 169 of the Administration of criminal Justice law of Rivers state, number 7 of 2015. While, principal state counsel for the prosecution Chidi  Ekeh  opposed the bail application and urged the court to remand the suspects to correctional centre  as to face proper prosecution. Hon. Farah Dagogo Whisked Away By Security Operatives On Order Of Governor Wike

  The Federal Lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP; Hon. Farah Dagogo has been arrested on the directives of Governor Nyesom Wike at the PDP Zonal Office, venue for the screening of Governorship A spirants.  Special Assistant on  Media and Publicity to Hon. Dagogo ,Ibrahim Lawal in a statement said the law maker was arrested in the governorship screening hall by some Police Officers and taken to an unknown location. Meanwhile, the police public Relations Officer DSP Grace Iringe-Koko was yet to confirmed the incident as of the time of filing this report.

SCIID Takes Over Case Of Alleged Defilement Of Two Year Old Twins

  State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID; Port Harcourt has taken over the case of alleged defilement of two-year-old twins, a boy and girl.   This followed the transfer of the case from the Human Rights desk at Police headquarters, Moscow road to SCIID on orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday.    A lawyer with Human Rights group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign Mr. Charles Edward following up the case confirmed the development to our correspondent .   Earlier, two suspects were re-arrested by Operation Puff Ader Tactical Unit last Monday and transferred to human rights desk at Police headquarters the same day.

Rivers NUJ Bans Press Conference Outside Press Centre

  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ,NUJ; has again banned holding Press conferences outside the Press Centre at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt. The council took the decision for the second time at its April Congress meeting held yesterday and threatened to sanction any of its members who attend a Press conference outside the Press Centre. The Union, in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Stanley Job Stanley and Ike Wigodo respectively, also vowed to disrupt any Press conference that is organised outside the Press Centre without the permission of the union leadership.  "The Union will no longer tolerate and allow Press conferences to hold outside the Press Centre without the permission of the leadership of the NUJ.   The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has declared the member representing  Degema/ Bonny Constituency in the House of Representatives and Governorship Aspirant under the Peoples Democratic party Hon. Farah Dagogo wanted  for allegedly hiring cultists to attack the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP;secretariat in Port Harcourt.  Governor Wike through his Special Assistant on Media Mr. Kelvin Ebiri in a statement directed the Rivers State Police Command  to arrest Hon. Farah Dagogo for allegedly hiring cultists who stormed the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt and disrupted the screening of Aspirants for various elective positions. According to the statement, the Police must as a matter of urgency arrest Farah Dagogo, wherever he is, and must be made to face prosecution." The Governor added that some hoodlums hired by Farah Dagogo have been arrested and will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Police Nab ATM Card Swapper In PortHarcourt

 Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command has apprehended 23-year-old    Promise Dogoh,a native of Kamnor community in Khana Local Government Area , who specialized in swapping ATM Cards, belonging to individuals at several ATM points in Rivers State and subsequently stealing money from their accounts. Acting police public Relations Officer DSP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said luck run out of the suspect when on the 22 of this month at ATM gallery in Artillery, he successfully swapped the ATM card of a victim  and withdrew the sum of N 640,000, leaving the victim with nothing in his account.  She stated that the frustrated victim reported the matter to Operatives of the State Command who promptly swung into action and arrested the culprit. Defilement Of Twins Aged Two, Police Rearrest Suspects

  Operatives of Puff Ader Tactical Unit of the Rivers State Police Command has re-arrested the two boys who allegedly defiled two year old twins a boy and girl   in PortHarcourt. Mother of the twins Mrs Achinihu Clement who spoke with our Correspondent said she wants justice for her children. Narrating how she discovered the alleged defilement of her two year old twins,Mrs Clement  stated that she noticed it when her son was  unable to sit. World Malaria Day: Rivers State Government Committed To Reduce Disease Burden

   Rivers State Government has reiterated its Political Will and Commitment to reduce the disease burden of the Rivers People.  Deputy Governor, Dr.Ipalibo Banigo stated this in a goodwill message from the Government House in Port Harcourt  to commemorate World Malaria Day, 2022. She noted that under the watch of Governor, Nyesom Wike the prevalence rate of malaria in the State has reduced significantly, noting that the State prevalence rate of malaria is 11.3% against the national prevalence of 24%. According to the Public Health Physician, Governor Wike is the Grand Ambassador for Malaria Elimination in the State, saying that Rivers State is amongst the best five States in the Country in terms of Malaria Control. Police Recover Stolen Car , Arrest Two Suspects

  Rivers State Police Command has intercepted a Black Toyota Corolla Saloon Car  that was reported stolen at Diobu, Mile One, Port Harcourt. Two occupants of the car, Garzali Abubakar and Lukman Magaji  were arrested while the police was on stop and search duty at Igwuruta check point. Court Sentence Pastor To 2 Years Imprisonment For Pouring Candle Wax In Private Part Of A Minor

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced, a Pastor of a white garment Church in Rumuomasi Port Harcourt, Mishack Aguebere to two years imprisonment for pouring hot candle wax into the private part of a thirteen-year-old girl under his care.    The accused pastor Aguebere who was charged under section 222 of the criminal code of Rivers State Nigeria 1999, was said to have sexually assaulted his wife's 13 year old niece living with them inside the Church premises at Rumuomasi.   Chief Magistrate Felicitas Amanze, delivering her judgement said that the accused action resulted to the victim having forceful tear of her hymen and other medical conditions as shown by the medical report conducted and tendered in court.   Chief Magistrate Amanze further ruled that the victim who has been psychological traumatized all through the court trial deserved justice, noting that sexual assault on children was becoming so rampant in the society.   In an interview with our corresponde

Domestic Violence: Pregnant Woman Allegedly Killed By Husband In PortHarcourt

  A pregnant woman, Mrs. Ruth Ekom-Sunday has allegedly been killed by her husband at Mgbuoba, Rivers State. The incident which occurred in the early hours of today was as a result of an argument between the couple. Caretaker of the compound Mrs.Wari Dumo who narrated the incident said the argument between the couple was as a result of 500# given to the woman by the husband during Easter holiday to cook for the family. Another neighbour of the victim explained that the suspect had been abusing  the deceased time without numbers. One of the child of the deceased who could barely talk as a result of the shock said her father hit her mother with stick that led to her death. The mother of four children was a llegedly murdered around  1am by her husband Ekom-Sunday .    Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has confirmed the appointment of CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, as the 25th indigenous Force Public Relations Officer.  CSP Adejobi was appointed in acting capacity on 16th February, 2022 after taking over from CP Frank Mba who was nominated by the Inspector-General of Police for the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies ,NIPSS;Kuru, Jos. Election: Police Deny Responsibility For Death Of Eleme Youth

 Rivers State police command has debunked rumors making round that its officer shut one Victor Amasi during the Onne youth election in Eleme local government area.  Acting Police Public Relations Officer DSP Grace  Iringe-Koko who dismissed the rumors  said while the command was yet to get report about any dead, the police never shut anyone in Onne during the election. Human Rights Advocate Remanded In Correctional Centre Over Sexual Assault Charges

 A member of Behind Bar Initiative Pastor Jude Ohanenye was charged to court for child sexual assault on a 8 year old minor in PortHarcourt, Rivers State.  The victim narrated how Pastor Ohanenye carried her on his lap and fingered her.
