Domestic Violence: Pregnant Woman Allegedly Killed By Husband In PortHarcourt

 A pregnant woman, Mrs. Ruth Ekom-Sunday has allegedly been killed by her husband at Mgbuoba, Rivers State.

The incident which occurred in the early hours of today was as a result of an argument between the couple.

Caretaker of the compound Mrs.Wari Dumo who narrated the incident said the argument between the couple was as a result of 500# given to the woman by the husband during Easter holiday to cook for the family.


Another neighbour of the victim explained that the suspect had been abusing  the deceased time without numbers.


One of the child of the deceased who could barely talk as a result of the shock said her father hit her mother with stick that led to her death.

The mother of four children was allegedly murdered around  1am by her husband Ekom-Sunday .

The deceased was said to be a petty trader who sells Akara and Tapioka to sustain the family.

 However, report reaching us said the body of the late woman has been deposited in the mortuary.


Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has arrested the suspect Ekom-Sunday.


Police Public Relations Officer DSP Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID; while investigation has commenced on the matter.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages.
