Mother Of Two Murdered By Tricycle Lover In Rivers State

A tricycle rider identified as IK has allegedly beaten his female lover, a mother of two, to death and abandoned her corpse alongside their children in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The sad incident occurred along the CPM Street axis of Ogbogoro on Tuesday.

A resident of the area, Mr.Jaja Benson, told our correspondent that at about 7:00 a.m on Tuesday, the 2nd of June 2026, residents were alerted to a disturbing scene along the street where two children, and the lifeless body of an adult woman were found inside a stationary tricycle.

According to the eyewitness, operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division had already arrived at the scene when he got there. He said the older child was been interviewed by the police and she narrated how her father used an object to beat their mother at a guest house where they had lodged on Monday night.

According to the child after his father realized that their mother could neither stand nor speak, he drove them out of the guest house, abandoned them and their mother's body inside the tricycle, and fled.

Meanwhile,the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the alleged murder of a woman by her lover IK.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Blessing Agabe who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, noted that the Ozuoba Police Division received information from a passerby.

''The Ozuoba Police Division patrol team swiftly moved to the scene, where officers found the lifeless body of a woman and two children aged about five years and six months respectively," ASP Agabe said.

"The five-year-old child informed the police that her father used an object to beat her mother during the night, leaving her seriously injured. When the father noticed that the woman had become weak, he allegedly rushed her to an undisclosed hospital where she was pronounced dead."

ASP Agabe further stated that a sister to the deceased was contacted by the police who identified the body.

 The remains of the deceased have since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and further investigation.

The Police Spokesperson also disclosed that the deceased's sister has taken custody of the two children, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
