LGAs Poll: Rivers Police Command Deployed 17500 Officers For Election Duty,Restrict Movement From 12Mid-Night Today


 The Rivers State Police Command said in view of the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday 17th April 2021, adequate Security has been emplaced to ensure that the exercise is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere. 


 The Command spokesman Mr Nnamdi Omoni in a press statement noted that seventeen thousand five hundred personnel has been deployed to be complemented by other Sister Security Agencies, aimed at providing safety, Security and the due maintenance of Law and Order, before, during and after the Elections.


The statement further said that the Commissioner of Police , Mr Eboka Friday  after a Meeting  of the Agencies and other bodies has ordered a restriction of movement of persons, vehicles or any mechanically propelled engine either on land or waterways.

 
The police image maker explained that very important personalities  and Politicians are   barred from going to any voting center with their Security details.

 Movement is only allowed from their houses to the voting centers and back, as provided by the Electoral Act.

According to the statement all entry and Exit points to the State will be completely blocked until the Elections are over. 

Mr Omoni while warning that no commercial activities will be allowed close to the polling Units, stressed that the Police and other Security Agencies will be moving round to ensure that there is strict compliance to the Order , arrest and prosecute violators. 

He  added that the Commissioner appealed for the continued support and cooperation of  members of the public in the regard, and promised to provide a conducive atmosphere for fair and violence free Election that will stand the test of time.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory
