By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of a former Chief Security Officer of Khana Local Government Area, Mr. Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa,who was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen yesterday, 26th July 2026 in Bori headquarters of the local government Area. The Command, reacting to reports circulating on social media, confirmed that the deceased's body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy. According to the Police spokesperson in Rivers State, ASP Blessing Agabe, efforts are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the sad incident. Rather than ordering police officers to shoot indiscriminately, the Inspector-General stated that officers had already been briefed on Force Order 237—the Nigeria Police Force's operational guideline regulating the lawful use of firearms.  His emphasis was that officers understand the circumstances under which firearms may be deployed in line with established Rules of Engagement and existing laws. Acting on credible intelligence received on 9th July 2026, operatives intercepted a J5 bus fully loaded with suspected vandalized NNPC pipelines along the Yola–Numan Road in Adamawa State. The vehicle was driven by one Paul Joshua and accompanied by one Paul Ishiyaku. The operation subsequently led to the arrest of seven suspects identified as Haruna Usman (28), Haruna Muhammed Sule (30), Dabus Peter (38), Ahmad Adamu (19), Sadik Ibrahim (31), Paul Joshua (49), and Paul Ishiyaku (48). This reality underscores the urgent need for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Judiciary.
