Obolo Women Converge Celebrates Girl Child Day In Grand Style

 Obolo Women Converge celebrated the  International Day of the Girl Child in a grand style. 

The women in their numbers went round schools in Andoni local government area and other Obolo speaking LGAs in Akwa Ibom to teach the female students on Sex Education,Hand Hygiene, Digital education among others.

Wife of the chairman of  Andoni local government area Rivers State, professor Beatrice Awortu has advocated the training  and retraining of indigent girls in the area to fit into the digital world.

 

Professor Awortu made the Advocacy during a tour of secondary schools in Andoni local government area and other Obolo speaking local government areas.

 

The chairman's wife who observed that an average girl in the area does not have access to the internet advised them to acquire skills that will make them useful to themselves and the society.


 

Speaking also president  Obolo women Converge Dr. Rhoda Nwalozie said the group is not partisan but have the interest of Obolo people at heart.

 

She explained that women in the area are doing well in areas of  Education, Health,  Business and Politics.


''We are here as mothers and sisters to contribute our quarter to the development and prosperity of our Father's land.  


 I appeal that we support the progress and build our dear communities.  


We are glad to have all of us here.

Some of the schools visited includes Government Secondary School Ngo, Community Secondary School Agwut Obolo, Community Secondary School Ebukuma and Government Secondary School Asarama ,Doni Comprehensive Secondary School Unyengala , Community Secondary School Ekede among others.

 

Our Correspondent reports that sanitary pads were distributed to all the female students.

 

The theme for this year celebration of the International day of the Girl Child is Digital Generation our Generation.
