Andoni Council Boss Reiterates Commitment To Showcase Rich Culture Of The People

 Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State Mr. Erastus Awortu has reiterated his commitment to continually showcase the rich culture of the people.


 Mr. Awortu made this known at the Andoni beach festival in Ikuru town as part of activities to mark the festive season.

The Council Chairman explained that the essence of the event was to bring the people of the area together irrespective of party affiliation.

He also stated that the program would help to bring about a friendly atmosphere after years of unrest as a result of cult related activities.

The council boss urged the youths to embrace peace for rapid development in the area.


On his part, the traditional ruler of Ikuru town, king Aaron Ikuru who expressed hope that the peace enjoyed by the people of Andoni will last long noted the need for the economy of  Ikuru town to be revitalized.

Similarly, youths of Andoni have been enjoined to maintain peace in the area to attract development .

The chairman of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Mr.Enyiada Cookey-Gam who made the appeal at the sideline of the beach festival urged them to acquire skills to be self reliant rather than depending on the government for survival.

In the same vein, former chairman of Obio Akpor local government area Mr.Solomon Eke called for lasting peace in the locality.

Mr. Eke also used the occasion to call on the Andoni  chairman to ensure that the people are carried along in the leadership of the local government.

The event which was attended by sons and daughters of the area was also graced by entertainers from all walks of life and personalities including some former council chairmen in the state.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
