Bille People Lament As Men In Military Uniform Invade Community

 




The people of Bille kingdom in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State are calling on the Federal and State Government to come to their rescue as some men in Military uniform invaded their community shooting sporadically, destroyed houses, tortured people and arrested some persons including the king of the kingdom who was later released.

Chairman Bille kingdom Council of Chiefs, Chief Bennett Okpoki told Newsmen in PortHarcourt that at the early hours of yesterday the community was invaded by Military men in uniform.

The chairman said four people were arrested by the Military Personnels and taken to an unknown destination.


Chief Okpoki explained that the Military alleged an officer was killed on the Bille waterways which they accused the community of been behind the killing hence the invasion.

The chairman while stating that Bille residents are peace loving and can not engage themselves in such an act, noted that for the past three years the people have suffered untold hardship on account of sea pirates attack and little or nothing had been done by the government .

According to  chief Okpoki,on Friday last week a passenger boat coming to Bille from PortHarcourt was attacked by sea pirates where one Mr.Impapamieari Igani from the community was killed with several others inflicted with various degrees of gunshots injuries.

He noted that it is worrisome the Military gave their king forty-eight hours to produced the suspects that killed their personnel and the arms used in committing the crime.

Also Speaking, Public Relations Officer Bille Kingdom Council of Chiefs,chief Boma Dappa said the incident was  reported to the chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Commissioner of Police  Eboka Friday and the 29th Battalion Tactical Unit stationed in Bille kingdom.

As of the time of filling this report the Public Relations Officer of Nigerian Army six Division PortHarcourt could not be reached as calls to his phone were not answered or returned.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025.
