The All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State says it has uncovered plots by the Peoples Democratic party, PDP; in the state to rent some misguided youths and arm them with fake APC membership slips and tokens in order to impersonate the party with the intent of hoodwinking the unsuspecting public about the membership strength of the ruling party.
Spokesperson, Rivers State APC Mr.Darlington Nwauju in a statement called on the general public to be circumspect and take with the pinch of salt any dramatized defection organized in the name of youths from different political platforms as it is a smokescreen targeted at justifying the millions of taxpayers' money being wasted by the outgoing state government.
According to the statement, the ongoing prebendal commercialization of defections in Rivers State is craftily designed to distract Rivers people from the regime of unaccountability, insecurity, poor workers welfare and joblessness of youths.
Mr. Nwauju alleged that politicians are cashing in on the panic and confusion reigning within the ranks of the ruling party in the state to rake in millions of naira by simply organizing fake defection ceremonies .
The Spokesperson stated that the party and youths have firmly committed to the Tonye Cole governorship project which is a ticket to employment, security and human capital development.
He added that no group or individual should hide under the banner of the APC to either extort the Rivers State government or hoodwink the people.
