Federal Road Safety Corps Flag Off Ember Months Campaign

 





A total of 27 tow trucks,83 motor bikes,800 patrol vehicles,100 Ambulances and thousands of reflective jackets are among other safety gadgets deployed by the Federal Road Safety Corps across its commands for the ember months.

 

Zonal Commanding Officer zone six headquarters Assistant Corps Marshal Jonathan Owoade stated this at the flag off campaign of FRSC Rivers State sector command in Port Harcourt.


FRSC Assistant Corps Marshal, ACM Jonathan Owoade in charge of Zone six explained that in order to ensure a smooth ember month, relevant stakeholders will be engaged through impactful public education programs.

 

ACM Owoade who frowned at the attitude of some drivers on the road said strict enforcement of critical offences such as overloading, speeding, use of expired tyres, use of phone while driving and driving against traffic will be intensified.

 

The Zonal Commander stated that FRSC is committed to creating a safer motoring environment to all road users by reducing the number of crashes to it's barest minimum and ensuring no death occurs in every crash.

 

On his part, Sector Commander FRSC Rivers State Salisu Galadunci noted that the challenges in sharing road with others are enormous but surmountable where strategies are put in place.


 

Mr. Galadunci noted that most worrisome offence is overloading of vehicles with either persons or goods, which can damage the vehicle or cause injuries to self.

 

Meanwhile, Rivers State government has reiterated it's commitment to supporting FRSC by constructing good roads in the state.

 

Governor Nyesom Wike represented by Director Administration office of the secretary to the state government Mr. Blessing Elijah appreciated FRSC Rivers State sector for always keeping the roads safe for usage.


 

He advised road users to obey laws governing the roads in order to be safe during and after the ember months.

 

The theme for this year's ember months safety campaign is Avoid Speeding, Overloading and Unsafe tyre to arrive Alive.

 

 

Dignitaries at the event include security agencies, traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders among others.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
