Justice for Chima : Court Slam Police Seventy Five Million Naira


 A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has awarded the sum of seventy-five million naira against the Nigeria Police in a fundamental Human Rights suit filed by the family of Late Auto  Mechanic, Chima Ikwunado who died  in police detention in 2019.


 
 The family of late Chima  Ikwunado has filled a fundamental rights action against the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Rivers state, Benson Adetuyi  and four others following the alleged torture to  death of Chima Ikwunado  by four former members of the disbanded E-crack unit of the Nigerian police force while in their custody. 


Justice S. I Mark in her judgment  awarded the cost against  the defendants for rights violation.

  Lead lawyer to the family of Chima Ikwunado , Princess Lawrence spoke to Newsmen shortly after the court ruling.

Also speaking, elder brother to Late Chima Ikwunado , Anthony Ikwunado  said the family is happy that Justice has been served. 


Mr. Ikwunado said the death of his Chima has caused so much pain to the family. 

Our correspondent report that four dismissed police officers Ayogu Fidelis, Eke Chibuzor, Egbunefu Felix and  Rose Georgewill  are still standing murder  trial for alleged torture to death  of Chima Ikwunado and unlawful detention and torture of Ozaze Friday , Ifeanyi Osuji and Ifeanyi Onyekwere who were arrested for driving against traffic in December 2019.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
