Residents of Edeoha community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State were thrown into panic at the early hours of yesterday, Sunday October 20, 2024 as gunmen suspected to be cultists invaded the community and killed four residents.

Report has it that, the  gunmen suspected to be members of Iceland cult group invaded the community at about 2am Sunday morning with sophisticated weapons and assault rifles shooting sporadically and went  from house to house in search of their targets, killing four persons in the process.

Community source disclosed that three of the killed persons are natives of Edeoha while one is a native of Ekata community still in Ahoada East LGA but resides in Edeoha.

Intelligence sources revealed that the suspected Iceland cult members who carried out the killing came from a camp in a neighbouring community to carry out the overnight killing at Edeoha.

A native of the community who pleaded anonymity, told our Correspondent that the persons who were killed are not cult members but the attacked is believed to have been carried out by cultists who may have been paid by mischievous persons to eliminate the four residents on unclear issues.

Checks by our Correspondent indicates that Edeoha community is accessible by road from Mbiama-Ahoada highway and also surrounded by creeks and rivers which makes hoodlums sometimes take advantage of the community.
