A New Dawn For APGA As Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu Wins By-Election In Anambra South

Written by Nduka Anyanwu

In an inspiring development that marks a turning point in Anambra State’s political landscape, Nduka Anyanwu, Special Adviser on Media to the APGA National Chairman, on behalf of Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, reports a historic milestone achieved by the party in the Anambra South Senatorial District.

For more than twenty (20) years, the zone had remained under the stronghold of the PDP and YPP, with no candidate from APGA managing to secure the seat.

That long-standing political jinx has now been decisively broken, thanks to the strategic vision and resilient leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and the fearless, innovative leadership of Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa.

Since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999, no APGA candidate had ever won the Anambra South Senatorial seat. Historically, the zone was represented by Senators Ugochukwu Uba (PDP, 1999–2007), Ikechukwu Obiorah (PDP, 2007–2011), Andy Uba (PDP, 2011–2019), and most recently, the late Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah (YPP and later APC, 2019–2024). Despite repeated efforts, APGA’s attempts to claim this seat had remained unsuccessful—until now.

The recent victory, where Chief Nwachukwu polled 90,408 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Azuka Okwuosa, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 19,847 votes led by the dynamic and resilient leadership of Sly Ezeokenwa, culminated in the election of Chief Emma Nwachukwu, marking a historic breakthrough for APGA in the zone.

This achievement underscores the effectiveness of the party’s grassroots mobilization, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to change.

On behalf of Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, and the entire APGA family, Nduka Anaynwu congratulates Governor Soludo and the National Chairman for their visionary leadership.

They are celebrated as *Jinx Breakers*—leaders whose resilience and strategic acumen have rewritten the political history of Anambra South.

This milestone is not just a victory for APGA but a testament to the power of unity, courage, and grassroots engagement. It affirms that political barriers are meant to be challenged and ultimately overcome.

With this historic breakthrough, APGA is set to forge ahead into a future of greater victories across Anambra, the Southeast, and Nigeria at large.

As the party builds on this success, the message remains clear: barriers can be broken through strategic leadership, resilience, and the collective will of the people.

In conclusion, Nduka Anyanwu affirms that this achievement is a victory for democracy and the enduring spirit of the Nigerian people. APGA remains committed to its ideals of progress, unity, and service.

APGA! Be Your Brother’s Keeper! - We are Misfortune Breakers!!! We overcame/ broke the cycles of misfortune, for ANAMBARA South Senatorial constituents.
