National Youth Leadership and Security Summit: IGP Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting Democratic Participation

The Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has charged Nigerians Youths  to reject political violence, criminal manipulation, and digital thuggery.


IGP Disu gave the charge during the opening day of the National Youth Leadership and Security Dialogue in Abuja.


A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, stressed that no political ambition is worth the future of any Nigerian youth.


 He charged them to choose peace, leadership, innovation, and responsible citizenship over violence, hate, misinformation, and other forms of destructive conduct.

IGP DISU DECLARES OPEN THREE-DAY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND SECURITY PROGRAMME


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, Thursday, 20th August 2026, actively participated in the opening day of the National Youth Leadership and Security Dialogue in Abuja, marking the commencement of a three-day programme organised to commemorate International Youth Day 2026 under the National Youth Security and Peacebuilding Initiative.

The three-day programme, scheduled to run from 20th to 22nd August 2026, is themed “Different Contents, Common Aspiration”, is designed to promote youth inclusion, peacebuilding, innovation, and responsible citizenship. Day One focused on Youth Leadership, Security and National Development, with engagements on national security, digital responsibility, civic participation, entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, innovation, and mental health.

In his remarks, the IGP urged young Nigerians to reject political violence, criminal manipulation, and digital thuggery, stressing that no political ambition is worth the future of any Nigerian youth. He charged them to choose peace, leadership, innovation, and responsible citizenship over violence, hate, misinformation, and other forms of destructive conduct.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting democratic participation, securing communities, and partnering with young people and relevant stakeholders to build a safer and more peaceful society. He noted that the dialogue provides a platform for youths to contribute meaningfully to national development and democratic stability.

The programme drew participation from government representatives, development partners, youth leaders, the Police Officers’ Wives Association, the Police Community Relations Committee, civil society groups, and other stakeholders. 

The Nigeria Police Force expresses confidence that the three-day engagement will produce practical outcomes that strengthen youth participation, community safety, and national peace.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
