Police Arrest Suspects Involved In The Murder Of Two Police Officers In Rivers State

Three suspects have been arrested by the violence Crime Response Unit of the Rivers State Police Command.

 The suspects, Maduabuchi Emeka, Chinedu Owhor and Kamachi Joe were arrested in connection with the murder of two police officers who were attacked while conducting a stop-and-search operation within the Aluu Division area on 29th June, 2026.

According to a statement by the Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, Exhibit recovered from the suspects includes Three AK- 47 rifles and one scorpion rifle.

 The suspects have also linked other murder cases currently under investigation. 

ASP Agabe noted that intensive efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fourth member of the gang, who is currently at large.

RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND

RIVERS POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN THE ATTACK AND MURDER OF TWO POLICE OFFICERS, RECOVERED TWO EARLIER SNATCHED AK-47 RIFLES.

The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the gruesome murder of two police officers who were attacked while conducting a stop-and-search operation within the Aluu Division area on 29th June, 2026, in which one of the officers leg was fatal injured and later amputated.

Following the tragic incident, which claimed the lives of the two officers and resulted in the theft of their service AK-47 rifles, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, psc, mnips,fcai, immediately visited the Division and directed that all operational and intelligence assets of the Command be deployed to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen police firearms.

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, operatives of the Command’s violence crime response unit VCRU, (AKU) through credible intelligence and sustained tactical operations, arrested three members of the gang, one Maduabuchi Emeka (Male), alias “Doctor,” 34 years old, a native of Egbata Community, Omoku LGA, one Chinedu Owhor (Male), 42 years old, a native of Akabuka, Omoku LGA, resident of Aluu Community, one Kamachi Joe (Male), 28 years old, a native of Egbata Community, Omoku LGA, Exhibit recovered in total includes: Three AK- 47 rifles and one scorpion rifle. The suspect has also linked other murder cases currently under investigation. 

Intensive efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fourth member of the gang, who is currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage, gallantly and dedication, noting that the breakthrough demonstrates the Command’s resolve to ensure that those who attack police officers or engage in violent crimes have no hiding place in Rivers State.

He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the initiative of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+) NPM, in protecting lives and property and bringing all criminal elements to justice. The Commissioner of Police further warned all involved in crime that the long hand of the law will catch up with them to immediately desist or face the full weight of the law. He emphasized that Rivers State is not a safe haven for criminals and the Command remains resolute in identifying, arresting and prosecuting anyone who threatens the peace and security of the State.

The Cp urged residents to sustain their partnership with the Command by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across Rivers State.
