Written By Nduka Anyanwu    As Nigeria steadily approaches the 2027 General Elections, the national conversation must rise above the narrow confines of electoral contests and political calculations.  Elections, while indispensable to democracy, are only one aspect of a much broader and enduring national project—the building of a democratic culture rooted in justice, inclusion, accountability, and shared national purpose. This is the essence of the vision consistently articulated by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, who has repeatedly emphasized that the strength of a nation is not measured merely by the periodic conduct of elections, but by the quality of its democratic institutions, the participation of its citizens, and the collective commitment to the common good. Democracy Beyond the Ballot Box In many emerging democracies, political engagement often peaks during election seasons and declines immediately...

By Nduka Anyanwu, APGA Candidate for the 2027 Ahiazu/ Ezinihite Mbaise Federal Constituency Election   Nigeria's democratic journey is a story of resilience, sacrifice, promise, and, sadly, recurring betrayals. The historic struggle that culminated in the restoration of civil rule in 1999 was built on the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians who believed that democracy would usher in an era of justice, prosperity, accountability, and shared opportunities. The significance of June 12, now celebrated as Democracy Day, reminds us that freedom and representative governance were won through sacrifice and the collective determination of the Nigerian people.    Twenty seven years of uninterrupted democratic governance is a remarkable achievement.  It demonstrates the resilience of our institutions and the enduring faith of Nigerians in the democratic ideal. Yet, democracy cannot be measured merely by the conduct of elections or the peaceful transfer of power. It...

BY  MEDIA TEAM As Nigeria marked another Democracy Day, we are reminded not only of the sacrifices made by our heroes and heroines to enthrone democratic governance, but also of the enduring obligation to make democracy meaningful in the lives of ordinary citizens.  Democracy is not merely the conduct of periodic elections; it is the guarantee that every Nigerian can live in peace, pursue legitimate aspirations, and enjoy the fundamental freedoms that define a civilized society. Yet, this year's commemoration is overshadowed by a painful reality: the growing insecurity across our nation has gradually diminished the true meaning of freedom.  A free people should be able to travel without fear, cultivate their farms without the threat of abduction, send their children to school without anxiety, and engage in business with confidence that their lives and property are protected.  Unfortunately, for many Nigerians today, these basic expectations have become daily struggle...

By: Zagazola Makama  For months, Fegin Kanawa, a remote community in Zamfara State, stood deserted as residents fled relentless attacks and threats from armed bandits. The difficult terrain leading to the village, coupled with fears of landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), had turned the area into what many considered a no-go zone. However, in a bold demonstration of leadership and commitment to public safety, the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello, led a determined security mission to restore confidence in the area and facilitate the return of displaced residents to their ancestral homes. Despite warnings about the dangers posed by the route and the security situation, the police leadership pressed ahead with the mission, convinced that lasting peace could only be achieved by restoring communities that had been emptied by violence. The operation involved the deployment of substantial police personnel and security assets to Fegin Kanawa an...
