Medical experts have called for policies that will enhance six months exclusive breast feeding by nursing mothers.
The experts stressed that a policy that will allow six months of maternity leave will enhance exclusive breastfeeding.
A pediatrician with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH Dr. Nneka Gabriel- Job who spoke with our correspondent said the policy should also cover the men.
Also a Chief nursing officer with UPTH, Mrs igonikon Anga said exclusive breast feeding was vital for the well being of the child calling for a crèche in every institution to enable working mothers feed their babies conveniently.
Another Chief nursing officer with UPTH, Mrs C.T. Gwunireama stressed that UPTH is currently running a programme to sensitise the public on the benefits of breast feeding.
