
All Heads of Personnel Managements and Treasurers indicted by the Committee set up by the Rivers State Government to investigate and audit the financial transactions of twenty three Local Government Councils in the State are to disciplined.
Governor Nyesom Wike stated this when he received the report of the committee set up to investigate and audit the financial transactions of the Local Government Councils from May 2018 to May 2019 at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike who explained that he will not dissolve the Local Government Chairmen based on the Supreme Court Judgement, however said all those found wanting will be dealt with.
The Rivers State Governor commended the committee for submitting their report as at when due.
Earlier, while submitting the report, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Committee, Doctor Ipalibo Banigo said all the twenty three Local Government Chairmen and principal staff of the councils appeared before the committee, while appropriate recommendations have been made to reposition the local government system.
Doctor Banigo urged authorities of local government to properly utilize local government funds to develop the grassroot.
