Ahead of the implementation of the
Rivers State Street Trading, Illegal Markets & Motor Parks (Prohibition) Law No. 8 of 2019, the Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks has
embarked on the sensitization of residents of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas, urging them to comply with the State Government's new policy.
Leading the sensitization campaign, Special Assistant to the Governor and Coordinator, Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks, Mr Bright Amaewhule said that in line with the Governor's Directive, the Task Force will commence work on Monday.
He visited majority of the 13 Zones designated by the Rivers State Government for the Operation of the Task Force.
Amaewhule appealed to street traders to cooperate with the Task Force so that Port Harcourt Streets would once again be clean and attractive.
The Special Assistant to the Governor and Coordinator, Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks had personal interactions with the traders at Ikwerre Road and other zones.
The Task Force marked out strategic places where Buses and Taxis should Park to pick passengers. Amaewhule warned the affected authorities at the Mile 3 Motor Park, to clear the facility for buses and Taxis to take over their approved location.
He warned that the Task Force will not listen to excuses when they commence their official work on Monday.
