Serial killer David West in serious Trouble as Rivers state government takes over his case

Justice Adolphus Enebeli of Port Harcourt High court has remanded Gracious David West the serial killer in Prison Custody. Justice Enebeli remanded Gracious David West after he pleaded guilty in nine count charges out of the ten count charges read to him before the court but pleaded not guilty on the ten charge. During the court proceeding, Rivers State Government through the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Zacchaeus Adangor, filed an application to take over the prosecution of the matter from the Police OC Legal and Prosecution Counsel. The Presiding Judge Justice Enebeli, after listening to the argument of the parties granted the application of the state Prosecution to take over the case as it is a high profile matter which warrant capital punishment. The Judge adjourned the matter to 18, 21,27,and 29 of November and 4 December 2019 for accelerated hearing. Speaking to Newsmen outside the court room OC Legal and Police Prosecution Counsel, Gladys Imegu, said it is the constitutional right of the State Prosecution to take over the matter, adding that the criminal Justice law of Rivers State also gives Police prosecution power to prosecute . State Prosecuting Counsel, Chidi Ekeh explained that the state Prosecution decided to take over the matter in order to prosecute the case to it's logical conclusion and ensure Justice is served. On his part, Vincent Chukwu Counsel to the Defendant Gracious David West, said despite the matter being a capital offence, that the Prosecution Counsel must prove to the court that his client is guilty to the charges. Also a representative of the DPP in Rivers state appeared before the court and applied to be part of the prosecution which the court granted.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
