Residents of Kaani in Khana LGA of R/S decries government negligence in the area

Residents of Kaani in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State are calling for quick intervention owing to the poor state of infrastructures in the community.The residents lamented that despite being the largest community in khana local government area, the people have not enjoyed any dividends of democracy from the government . The people decried the High level of negligence by the federal, state and local government Some of the residents Mrs. Elizabeth Francis, Mr.Peterside Stephen and Mrs.Blessing Dum said the community have suffered untold hardship as a result of lack of infrastructural development . The residents lamented that business activities are grounded as many business owners depend on the use of generating set to do their business. Another resident Ken Nnamee who is a barber said doing his business has been very difficult as no electricity to help him meet up with targets. He urged the government to do the needful by providing electricity to help boost his business. Earlier, Paramount ruler of the community Mene Godwin Apere said lack of development causes rural urban migration, and increases social vices in the area.noting that NDDC had made several promises as a result of the letters written to them by the community ,but nothing has been done. Mene Apere appealed to government at all levels to include the development of the area in their budget, as no community can thrive without development. Our correspondent report that old electric poles which were without cables were sighted in the community when visited .

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026. The Senior Magistrate informed the litigant on how the court had wanted to issue a bench warrant against him if not for the intervention of his lawyer who pleaded that he the litigant was sick and needed medical attention.
