Covid 19...Ikwerre LGA boss vow to maintain Governor Wike's Directives

Chairman Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon.Samuel Nwanosike has vowed to maintain all the directives issued by the State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the state. Hon Nwanosike, who led the members of the Ikwerre LGA COVID-19 Sensitisation and Monitoring Team on inspections, stated that there would not be any amount of blackmail or criticism that will make him allow anyone to float the directives issued by the governor and him. The council boss monitored places like Omagwa, Elele, Omerelu and Isiokpo. While at Omerelu, the Chairman and his COVID-19 Team charged the security operatives manning the Rivers State and Imo State boundary never to allow any vehicle or someone cross into the state again. On the process, some vehicles were impounded and the passengers arrested and taken to Elele Police Station. Similarly, motorcycle operators were stopped, commercial vehicles carrying more than ten people were forced to comply with the directive given by the state's Commissioner of Transport, and markets were stopped from holding. Hon.Nwanosike admonished the people of his LGA not to see his act as wickedness, but as means of preventing them from contracting the deadly virus. He added that this difficult time will soon be a thing of the past as long as the people adhere to instructions.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
