Police Apprehend 17 Sea Pirates Terrorising Rivers Waterways

Operatives of the Marine Division of the Rivers State Police Command, in a follow up on the attack of the Men of the Special Protection Unit ,SPU;Base 5, Benin that were attacked by Sea Pirates on 24/5/2020 at Egelegele River in Degema Local Government Area . In a well coordinated Operation late last night arrested one Destiny Ubani male and 16 others who allegedly carried out the dastardly act, where the men lost their Arms and Ammunition. Police Public Relations Officer Mr.Nnamdi Omoni in a press statement said the suspects are currently helping the Police and making useful confessions, while efforts have been intensified to arrest the remnants of the criminal gang, said to be responsible for the attacks on passengers along the Degema, Asari Toru and Akuku Toru Waterways. Mr. Omoni stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mukan is appealing to residents of Asari Toru, Akuku Toru and Degema Local Government Areas and other Coastal Communities to increase their security consciousness and assist the Police with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the rampaging Sea Pirates terrorizing them, via the following Security Numbers: 1. 08032003514 2. 08028915462 3. 08182157778 While assuring them of his determination to rid the waterways of all manner of pirate attacks in the State. Items recovered from the suspects includes, two AK 47 Magazines,Different charms/Ammulets ,Gas Cylinder,Assorted Handsets, fifty thousand naira and two Speed Boats used in the attack.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026. The Senior Magistrate informed the litigant on how the court had wanted to issue a bench warrant against him if not for the intervention of his lawyer who pleaded that he the litigant was sick and needed medical attention.
