Police Refutes Report Of Compromising A Case Of Defilement in Rivers Community

Rivers State Police command said its attention has been drawn to a Report on social media, credited to a Human Rights Group , Behind the Bar Initiative with the Caption Allegation that Police Officers from Oyigbo Area Command allegedly took undisclosed huge sums of money to effect arrest of Victim's family. Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO;Mr. Nnamdi Omoni said that the Command in its manner would have ignored and jettisoned the report with a wave of the hand but has decided to put the records straight . PPRO explained that a Case of Defilement was reported at the Oyigbo Area Command on the 26th of May 2020 by one Gloria John of Iriebe Community, who in her Complaint stated that her little daughter of about 3years was sexually abused by her Stepfather, one Joseph Ufere 42 years . Mr. Omoni explained further that on the receipt of the Case,the suspect was arrested and detained, while the Victim was taken to Save a life Hospital ,Doctors Without Borders where she was examined and treated. The Command Image Maker said Investigation is ongoing and the suspect transferred to the State CID for further Investigation. He stated that the Allegation of Compromise is not verifiable, as same cannot be substantiated, hence should be discoutenanced and ignored. Added that Police Officers at the Oyigbo Area Command under the watch of Area Commander, ACP Rosemary Collins in the circumstance were professional and acted Bonafide, without any attempt to undermine the process, as deduced from the Statement of the Complainant made in the presence of the Parties.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
