The Nigeria police have maintained that there is no need for Vigilante groups and OSPAC to use firearms.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG; Austin Agbonlahor incharge of zone 16,Yenagoa comprising Rivers and Bayelsa States Police Commands stated this at the Rivers State Police command headquarters in Port Harcourt while speaking with Journalists.
Earlier, Rivers State Commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mukan outlined some challenges facing the command to include lack of training, lack of crime fighting equipment and inadequate manpower .
Mr. Mukan noted that despite the challenges, men and officers of Rivers State Police command will continue to do their best to ensure criminality is reduced to the minimum.
Our Correspondent reports that the AIG who was on tour of commands under his zone inspected the guard of honours on arrival.
