Family members Insist Philip Brown was Tortured to Death by Diobu Vigilante Members

Controversy has continued to trail the death of a suspect Philip Brown popularly called School Boy in the detention of Eagle crack unit of the Mile One Police Station. 

Family of late Philip Brown alleged that the deceased was tortured by vigilante group under the supervision of the police and died in the process.


Speaking to Journalists cousin to the deceased, Mike pepple explained that some youths of  Okwelle waterfront mile two Diobu had chased away armed men who came to rob in the area and recovered AK 47 riffle from them, but there was an argument  between vigilante and the Youths over who will hand over the gun to the Police which led to the arrest of late Philip Brown.


An Uncle to the victim Mr. Daniel Manfred  who called for thorough investigation into the matter,  dismissed allegation by the Rivers state Commissioner of Police that the suspect was beaten by a Mob before he was handed over to the police.


Rivers state  Commissioner of Police  Mr. Joseph Mukan at a press briefing who dismissed reports making  the rounds on social media said the deceased was not tortured to death as alleged but died as a result of mob attack.

Mr. Mukan advised people to always verify news before they put it on air calling on those responsible for the negative reports to retract their statement.
Meanwhile, a group known as Diobu Vigilante Service had in a statement on its Facebook page stated that it swung into action after receiving an intelligence report that  two cult groups by name Lamedian and Foundation  were fighting, shooting and breaking windscreen of cars in the area.

According to the statement the vigilante group apprehended one Philip Brown nicknamed school boy who in turn gave them names like Augustine and one Doctor.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
