Rivers State Police Command has rescued a 14 day old baby boy allegedly sold for one million, three hundred thousand naira by his Grandmother, Mrs. Victoria Joseph when the baby was 4 days old.
Parading the suspects, Commissioner of police Mr. Joseph Mukan said investigation was launched into the matter after one Mr. Christian Duru, the father of the baby reported the matter.
The commissioner said the grandmother was arrested and on interrogation led the detectives to Ukanafun in Akwa Ibom State where another suspect, Pauline Umoh was arrested.
Mrs. Umoh took the Police to Mgbidi in Imo State where the buyer, Nwanyi Ifuobi was arrested and the baby recovered.
Buyer of the baby, Nwanyi Ifuobi insisted she went to a motherless baby home to adopt the child before she was arrested.
The Buyer explained that she was linked to the motherless babies home by a friend.
