#Police Brutality: Family of a Commercial Driver Allegedly Murder by Police Officer Demands One Hundred Million Naira as Compensation


 Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Alleged Acts of Violence , Torture, Brutality, Murder and Violation of Fundamental Rights of Citizens Committed by Officers and Men of the Nigerian Police Force has struck out two petitions.


The panel struck out the petition of David  Paul and ThankGod Nwabeke ,when their attention were drawn to the fact that judgment had already been given on the matter but it had challenges of enforcement .

Our Correspondent reports that the Chairman of the Panel, Justice Chukwuneye Uriri told the petitioners that it was not in the Jurisdiction of the panel to enforce judgment and thereby struck out the matter.

Also, the panel adjourned till Wednesday this week to continue in a matter brought by the family of Bright  Chinatu-Mark who was allegedly killed by a police officer at Rumuokoro in 2018.

The Panel gave the adjournment after Counsel representing the Police, N.N Nweke requested that the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni  be invited since he was mentioned as part of the then Commissioner of police, Ahmed Zaki's entourage that paid the family a condolence visit.

Younger brother to the victim , Mr. Akachi Mark narrated  how his brother was shot by an officer.

Mr. Mark on behalf of the family demanded for one hundred million naira compensation and asked that the police officer who killed his brother be brought to justice.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
