Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mukan has condemned the killing of a civilian by a Police Sergeant serving at Elelenwo Police Station.
A statement by the police public relations officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni confirmed that the incident happened at the Station, where the Sergeant shot the Victim, Abiodun Jimoh who was immediately rushed to the Hospital but later died.
It states that His remains have been deposited in the Mortuary.
Mr. Omoni noted that investigations have commenced and the outcome will be communicated to the public.
Meanwhile the statement says Police Sergeant who carried out the dastardly act is in custody for debriefing and psychological evaluation.
His Orderly Room Trial will commence in ernest, for possible arraignment.
The Command has commiserated with the family over the unfortunate incident and has assured them that the interest of justice will be served in the circumstance, while appealing for calm and allow the law take its full course.
