#World AIDS Day: "HIV Test is Free Get Tested", Commissioner for Health Urges Rivers Residents


 In commemoration of World AIDS day, Residents of Rivers State are charged to get themselves tested to ascertain their HIV  status  .


Rivers State commissioner for Health,  Prof. Princewill Chike who gave the charge in an event organised by the ministry to mark the day, said HIV is real hence the need to know one's status.

The Commissioner stressed that inline with the NEW Rivers vision, governor Nyesom Wike has made the test and treatment of HIV  free in the state 

Prof. Chike lauded efforts of the state Governor  in assisting the Ministry with facilities to provide quality Healthcare  Services for residents of the state. 

According to the Commissioner,  Governor Wike is the first Governor to declare the testing and treatment of HIV and AIDS free in the state.

He explained that people living with HIV in the state have benefited alot from the state Government.

The Professor also enjoined the media to disseminate the right information about the virus just like every other pandemic ravaging the world.


However, some persons living with HIV who spoke at the event ,appreciated the state Government for providing free healthcare system  .

They encouraged those living with the virus to pushed their dreams and live their normal lives to the fullest, saying that living with the virus does not stop one in achieving his or her desired goals.

A mother,  Mrs. Peace while sharing her experience said with the help of the state government she was able to give birth to her four children who tested negative despite the fact that she was HIV positive.


Highlights of the event was lunching of Oral HIV Self-test Kits and the presentation of Rivers State surge success stories.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
