A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced a 35 year old man, Etim Offiong to one year in prison
Etim Offiong was sentenced on 1 count charge bothering on tampering with an electric pole belonging to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company and an attempt to disconnect PHED armoured cables the substation at Mbiama street in Old GRA
Presiding magistrate Chinwe Nsirim in her ruling said the crime was in contravention of the Rivers State Criminal Code of 1991
Defense counsel P.N. Ogbugbanam had earlier pleaded the court to tamper justice with mercy since her client claimed to be the only child of his parents .
