Government Staff Alleged OSPAC In Etche Tortured And Detained Them Over Matching Ground Levy




 



A native of Mba community in Etche local government Area Mr Nwanyanwu Promise  has accused OSPAC members in the community of torturing and detaining him and his three other colleagues for two days over their refusal to pay illegal fees otherwise known as 'matching' ground to members of the vigilante. 


The victim Mr Promise  in an interview with our correspondent, said that he and his colleagues were at their beat, where they were posted to by Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and industry when some members of OSPAC came and demanded that they should pay 'matching'  ground levy. 

He revealed that they disagreed on the ground that the state Government has abolished the illegal fee.


Mr Promise said he came back and heard OSPAC has arrested his colleagues and taken them to their barracks, on getting there to enquire what the issue was ,he was detained  along his colleagues and tortured for two days. 


He alleged that they were released by the OSPAC members after paying 50,000 naira. 

The alleged victim, Mr Promise also criticized the failure of the Okehi Police Division to either invite or arrest the OSPAC members. 

While regretting that for three weeks Okehi Police Division has not acted on his complaints, Mr Promise called on the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday to ensure justice on the matter.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter.
