Andoni Council Boss Charges Students To Be Good Ambassadors

 About fifteen students from Andoni local government area of Rivers State are being trained as naval Marshals at Charkin Maritime Academy in Port Harcourt.  



Chairman of Andoni local government area, Mr Erastus Awortu who made this known during a visit to the academy charged the students to be committed to become good ambassadors of the area.


The council boss, Mr. Erastus Awortu who encouraged the students to use the opportunity of the training to make their lives better for the area and the society at large urged them not to disappoint the council.


Mr. Awortu said the essence of sponsoring the students on the training is to make them gainfully employed by multinationals within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

 

The chairman also noted that as a way of reducing the rate of insecurity in the area , other Youths will be engaged in short term projects that will enhance their credibility thereby making them independent and useful to the area and the society.


He explained that the local government area has been in the News for wrong reasons and expressed optimism that the image of the area will be redeemed in no time.


Earlier, Chief Executive Officer, Charkin Maritime Academy,  Dr Charles Wami said the school is preparing the young cadets in marine engineering and nautical science which will fetch them the opportunity to be captains  and chief engineers.


Dr. Wami lauded the chairman for the gestures and enjoined other local government chairmen to follow suit.

Dr. Wami said the program will last for two years after which they will be sent onboard the ship for 12months mandatory sea training.


One of the students who responded on behalf of the others, Master Ekene-Royi Awajiokitumu  Luke, appreciated the chairman of the council for the opportunity to better their lots.

Master Luke promised they will not fail the council boss and will keep the flag of Andoni Local Government Area flying.

He added that the training will make them self reliance and better entrepreneurs.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
