Rivers State Government calls for collaboration with Federal Government Agencies to move the country forward .

Governor Nyesom Wike made this call during the flag off of the Ember months Road Safety campaign by the Federal Road Safety Corps Rivers Sector Command.

The Governor represented by the Permanent Secretary Special Service Bureau, Dr.George Nweke urged the Federal Government  to embark on reconstruction of all Federal roads in the state to ensure safety on the roads.

'' If you look at the road from the East West road especially the aspect that leads to the goose that lay the golden eggs in Nigeria Refinery, you find out that it opposes what we are doing here today it does not give us a good environment to thrive, especially with specialized equipments that drive on that road, the tankers carrying inflammable sustenance and moving on that road I think that the campaign is a call on federal government to do the needful.''

On his part, Zonal Commanding Officer Zone RS 6 Headquarters, Assistant Corps Marshal , Chidiebere Nkwonta said that the  command will continue to educate the masses on the dangers associated with night traveling.

''Although night travels have remained the choice of many Nigerians,in spite of the inherent dangers which have manifested in reoccurring manner and the corps continuous discouragement, fleet operators are hereby equally prevailed to tone down facilities for such journeys.''

ACM Nkwonta explained that the damage done to newly constructed roads arising from indiscriminate parking along the high ways and other forms of acts of unauthorized access to the highway will be tackled head on.

Earlier, Rivers State Sector Commander Salisu Galaducnci noted that the challenge in sharing the road with others road users are enormous but not surmountable where strategies are put in place.
