Court Remands Woman Who Bath 9 year old Maid Hot Water

 



A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded Mrs Oluchi Nkemjika who poured hot water on her nine-year-old housemaid.

The suspect  was arrested last week after one of her neighbours at paradise avenue alerted the police when she attempted to conceal the incident.

The presiding Chief Magistrate S. Harry who adjourned the matter to the 6th of December also ordered that the case file be transmitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. 

Our Correspondent reports that the mother of four denied committing the crime  but a complaint and Chairman of Paradise Avenue, Sam Ikem testified against her.


Speaking with our Correspondent, chairman Paradise Avenue Egbelu in Obio Akpor local Government Area,Mr. Sam Ikem who expressed surprise that the woman attempted to mislead the court urged the police to also  thoroughly investigate her husband.

Mr Ikem appealed to the court to ensure justice is served in the matter.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
