Join Campaign To Eliminate Violence Against Women And Girls : Banigo


 Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo  Banigo has called on all well- meaning citizens, especially the male folk to join the campaign to end violence against women and girls.


 

Dr. Banigo made this call in her good will message from the Government House in Port Harcourt , to commemorate the 2021, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls.

 

The Deputy Governor who urged the male folk to be strong advocates in the quest to eliminate violence against women and girls, noted that violence against women and girls increase in the society during crises.

 

She said it manifests in physical, sexual and psychological means and most times perpetrated by trusted family members, while the rest of society look the other way, explained that sometimes women are also culpable when it comes to violence against fellow women.

 

Dr. Banigo said the State Government under the leadership of Governor Wike takes the security and wellbeing of women as top priority with a zero tolerance for violence against women.

 

It would be recalled that the 25th of November, each year is set aside to commemorate the International Day for the elimination of violence against Women. It also marks the launch of 16 days of activism that would end on December 10th 2021, which is the International Human Rights Day.

 

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
