Rivers CP Order Release Of A Female Student Detained By Police On Complain By A Lecturer





Family Of a Female Student Of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Port Harcourt Rivers State has called on the general public  to come to their aid over intimidation and arrest of their daughter by a lecturer in Public Administration department Mr Tamunotonye  Solomon .


Mother of the female student, Mrs.Ruth Audu in an interview with Newsmen said in April 2021 her daughter informed the family that the lecturer employed her as office assistant.

Mrs. Audu revealed that two weeks after the daughter started working as office assistant to the lecturer, her daughter resigned because the lecturer allegedly started making advances towards her.

She explained that some weeks after her daughter resigned, Police officers came to the campus to effect the arrest of her daughter but were resisted by the school security personnel who asked the Police to write officially to the institution.

Mrs Audu added that her daughter a two hundred level student of Accounting Department in the institution was arrested on Wednesday and taken to Police Division in Abacha road where she was detained for two nights.

In the meantime Centre For Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has condemned the continued detention of the female student by the Police in an alleged offence that is bailable pending when the Police will arraign her in court if found culpable in the course of investigation.

National Coordinator of the group, Prince Wiro who was at the Police station urged the Police to carry out investigation devoid of bias and sentiment with a view to ensuring justice to all parties involved.

However, information reaching our News desk has it that the female student has been released on the order of Rivers State Commissioner of Police Mr. Eboka Friday .

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages.
