One person have been reportedly killed during an APC Protest in Rivers State.
It is not yet clear if the victim died as a result of the sporadic shooting by the Police to disperse the protesters or as a result of a stampede.
Supporters of Senator Magnus Abe of the APC had this morning stormed the APC Secretariat to protest alleged hijack of the State and National Assembly Congress/ Screening of the Party billed to hold today when some masked Police office began shooting.
Journalists and scores of APC members scampered for safety as the Police shoot and teargas while hoodlums throw bottles on the other side.
The protesters carried placards with inscriptions like, ‘APC Rivers, where are our forms’, ‘2018 Repeats Itself Again in Rivers, No Lesson Learnt’, among others.
The aggrieved party members said they arrived at the secretariat around 6:00 am only to meet the gate under lock and key. When some protesters attempted to force open the gates, policemen stationed inside the party secretariat shot into the air. The shooting led to chaos in the area.
