PDP Sue INEC, Accord Party, Fourteen Others For Non Compliance To New Electoral Act

 

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has dragged, the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC;Accord Party and fourteen others before a Federal High court sitting in Port Harcourt over alleged non compliance to new electoral act in the conduct of their just concluded party primary elections.

The PDP are asking the court to compiled INEC not to recognize Accord Party and their National Assembly candidates for allegedly violating the new electoral act.

tion, counsel to PDP, Dike Udenna asked the court for more time to enable him respond to preliminary objection raised by counsel to Accord Party, Abdulhameed  Mohammed .

Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen  Daylop-Pam after listening to the Counsels directed the parties to respond to process and adjourned till 29th of July for hearing.

Meanwhile,Counsel to PDP, Dike Udenna told our Correspondent that  Accord Party did not comply with requirements of electoral act in nomination of their candidates.


Also Speaking, Counsel to Accord Party, Abdulhameed Mohammed said PDP as a party has no locus standi to file the suit.


Mr.Mohammed explained that the primary election of Accord Party was conducted on 28 May,2022 and PDP waited till July 7,2022 before coming to court to challenge the primary.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025.
