The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State has condemned the State Government Executive Orders 21 and 22.
Chairman Rivers State Chapter of NYCN, Comrade Nwisabari Bani who made the condemnation in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Port-Harcourt said the body will challenge the Executive orders in court.
Comrade Bani maintained that the two Orders should not be allowed to play out as they are not contained in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
''The Executive Orders so far signed are all obnoxious, vexatious and alien to sound democratic norms globally.
Executive orders 21 and 22 are both signs of highest legislative ineptitude, ignorance and executive rascality by the executive arm. Because these Orders are unknown to nature and the constitution, the council has directed its legal team to challenge the orders so as to create a conducive political space for all and avoid the state of anarchy already being peddled by the Wike's led PDP administration in Rivers State''.He said
The chairman also condemned the recent attacks on some political parties in the state, urging the Youths to desist from being used as tools in the hands of politicians who do not mean well for the state.
According to the chairman,''Pitiably, these attacks have been meted out on intraparty and inter party supporters who chose to have a dissenting view from the political leadership of the Gov. Wike's led administration in the State.
First it was in Omuma Local Government Area that young men were macheted by political hoodlums believed to be loyal to actors of the state Government.
Also, from Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area, reports of people being forced to swear to a diabolic oath against their will not to support a particular presidential candidate occupied the news waves very recently. Such archaic decision and action is alien to democratic norms across the world.
Unfortunately, the next known attack was meted out on the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP, Sen. Magnus Ngei Abe and his supporters in Oyigbo Local Government Area where political thugs believed to be loyal to the state People's Democratic Party PDP Chairman were clearly identified.
Just a few days afterwards, another attack was carried out against the same man and his team at the Okirika waterside in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area''.
Comrade Bani called on Security Agencies to live up to expectations by executing their tasks professionally without fear or favour.
He enjoined all members of the Council, Rivers Youths and residents to go and get their permanent voters cards PVCs to vote in formidable candidates who are fully prepared to ensure good governance in the state.
