A local vigilante group known as OSPAC in Omademe IKwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State has allegedly shot one Godspower Dimkpa dead, a native of IPO , after collecting twenty five thousand naira bail money.
The incident comes barely forty eight hours after Commissioner of Police, Effiong Okon reiterated ban on use of fire arms and detention of suspects by local vigilante group in the state.
The victim, father of two was said to have been ambushed and shot dead by Omademe OSPAC members on his way to his community after he was released from their cell.
In an interview with our Correspondent,elder brother to the deceased,Luggard Dimkpa narrated what transpired.
"On Thursday the man he sold land for at the backyard, build his house finished and packed in,and fence his land so I don't know what caused issue between my late brother and his tenant.
"The tenant,CDC Chairman in IPO brought OSPAC from Omademe to come and arrest my brother,that the CDC Chairman said they should arrest my brother .
"They did not see my brother initially,they arrested me .Later they arrested my brother which I bailed him 25,000 naira.
"On our way coming back the OSPAC attacked us on the road . OSPAC Omademe is aware of my brother's death because they have paid them before to come an kill me they did not succeed.They wanted to succeed by killing me and my brother the same time yesterday".He said

Mr.Dimkpa while noting that two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident, urged the police not to sweep the matter under carpet but ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile,Spokesperson Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident, said some OSPAC members have been arrested and investigation ongoing.
In the meantime Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has condemned the alleged killing by OSPAC .
A lawyer with the group Charles Edward called for thorough investigation into the incident with a view to prosecuting anybody found culpable in the death of Godspower.
Mr Edward also called for proper monitoring and close supervision of local vigilante group by the Police to prevent reoccurrence of such incident.
