Electorates Decry Alleged Involvement Of Security Agents On Electoral Malpractice

 The residents of Port Harcourt have expressed sadness,pain and disappointment on the alleged activities of security agents during the just concluded presidential and governorship elections that held February 28 and March 10, 2023 in Nigeria .


 The Residents expressed their sadness on how security agents especially Police became catalyst of electoral malpractices, snatching ballot boxes and protecting political thugs.

Some residents who spoke to #awajisgeorgenews stated how police aided electoral malpractice during the presidential and governorship elections. They stated that police were the ones snatching ballot boxes, beat up an electorate in a particular polling unit who complained of not seeing a particular party logo in the ballot paper.

They regretted that activities that used to be perpetrated by political thugs, hooligans and over zealous political extremists were now been carried out by security agents.

Some students, future electorates who spoke to us stated that the situation is discouraging. They expressed that they are not motivated to participate in the forthcoming elections since it looks as if votes do not count

On changing the narrative, a media practitioner Mr. Styvn Obodokwe stated that all those involved in the electoral malpractice should be identified and prosecuted if the Government and security agencies really want to stop the menace.

Some residents who also spoke on the solution requested that the security agencies should be properly trained. One of the residents in Port Harcourt suggested that the government should involve foreign security agents to come train the police and other security agents in Nigeria.

Recalled that during the just concluded election in Nigeria, some citizens frowned at  the involvement of security agents in the voting process which they felt is against the laws that govern elections.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
