Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 16 Bayelsa and Rivers State, AIG Benjamin Okolo has charged Police Officers to ensure justice, fairness and diligence in the discharge of their duties
He gave the charge in an interactive session with men and officers of the Rivers State Police Command in Port Harcourt.
AIG Okolo while emphasizing attitudinal change among officers, said the Nigerian police will gain public trust if their dignity is restored.
The AIG assured Police officers of the IGP's commitment to improve the welfare of personnel.
He urged officers to work in synergy with other security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality .
AIG Okolo while warning Police officers against extortion at the check points, said any officers involved in extortion will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
On his part, Rivers State Commissioner of Police CP Nwonyi Emeka earlier in his speech said the police under his watch is capable and will continue to curb all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
Our Correspondent report that the AIG is on a two day working familiarization tour to the State.
