Black Saturday: Police Officer Shot Dead On Duty By Hoodlums In Rivers State

Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of an inspector attached to the Department of Operations, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The Police Officer who was escorting his Principal was shot on the head around Landmark Hotel at Oroworukwo, Olu Obasanjo road, Port Harcourt on Saturday, 26th August, 2023.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko who in a press statement confirmed the incident, said that the riffle and barret of the officer were carted away by the unknown gunmen.

SP Iringe-Koko stated that patrol teams have been mobilized to the scene, noting that effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing hoodlums and recover the rifle.

As at the time of filling this report, the corpse of the officer has been deposited at the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt for autopsy.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
