Police Apprehend Suspect Who Murdered An Inspector

In the last one week,the Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested at least six armed robbery and suspected kidnappers .

 Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka in a press briefing at the Command's headquarters in Port Harcourt said on Friday 25th August,Police operatives received distress call regarding abduction of a male victim at Okporo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

CP Emeka said Hawk Tactical Team mobilized to the scene and  arrested one  Ikechi James and rescued the victim, recovered the vehicle,some rounds of ammunition and assorted charms .


Speaking further, the Commissioner of police said on Monday August 21, 2023 at about 5pm in  the evening,following  discreet investigation into kidnap of eleven year  old child from Okuru-ama community in Abuloma, Police operatives arrested one Ben Geoffrey and Israel Ekeneorion both from Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The suspects confessed to the crime, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members and recover operational weapons.

CP Emeka stated that on August 22, 2023 during a routine stop and search at Okuru link road in Abuloma,Police operatives  intercepted one tricycle, the driver Uduak Patrick was found with locally made pistol.

Similarly, the CP disclosed that Police operatives attached to C4I intelligence arrested Promise Ebi who led the kidnapped of one victim around Uniport, the Rivers Police Boss stated that the same kidnap suspect after releasing the victim, called and collected another three million naira from the victim before his arrest.




The Police Boss also disclosed that on August 27,2023 one  Uche Chinedu was  arrested while robbing drivers at Onne.
 One locally made gun  was recovered  from the suspect.

CP Emeka revealed that on Sunday 27,August,2023 the Elelewon  Police Division and vigilantes apprehended one Believe.

While the suspect was robbing, the victim raised alarm and the suspect was arrested . Seventy thousand naira was recovered from him.

CP Emeka also announced the arrest of one Hamza Surage and Ismaila Abubukar in Hausa quarters Elelewon in possession of  a brandish pistol on August 23,2023.

According to the CP, operatives of the command received report from a woman that her husband was returning home at Ebiama, Ahoada West Local Government Area on August 23,2023 when suspected kidnappers abducted him.

CP Emeka stated that the DPO of Akinnima Police Division swung into action and arrested one  Simeon Andrew who is aiding the Police in investigation.


On August 29, 2023 acting on tip off, one Godspower Salete, terrorizing Rumuodogo area of Emohua section of East West road was sighted at Rumuodogo,upon sighting the Police,he  took to his heels.

CP Emeka said the suspect who has been on watch list of the Rivers State Police Command was apprehended after hot chase and is currently undergoing investigation.

The Commissioner revealed that the suspect Godspower and his gang members on Tuesday, 22nd July 2023 armed themselves with an AK 47 rifle with six magazines and shot dead one Inspector Ogno Alite in his house . The murder case is still under investigation.

The Rivers State Commissioner of police also disclosed the arrest of one Baradi Peter who participated in the killing of two  of community youths guarding the trans Niger Delta pipeline  at Bodo,Gokana Local Government Area  of the State.
